Linking Tegemea with Regional Centre for Human Security

The Vision for Community Empowerment

As Nathan approached retirement from international civil service, he began envisioning how to continue his lifelong commitment to community empowerment through an institution of his own—the Regional Centre for Human Security – Great Lakes Region (RCHS-GLR). He was determined to build an organization that could operate independently and sustainably, without overreliance on donor funding.

To realize this vision, he established Tegemea Holdings (U) Ltd as the business arm of RCHS-GLR, designed to generate resources that would support the Centre’s long-term programs and operations. This approach ensures that even when volunteers join to offer support, they find an organization that is already progressing—self-driven, mission-focused, and financially anchored. Choosing purpose over comfort, Nathan opted for early retirement and formally registered Tegemea Holdings to power the work of RCHS and advance his broader vision for regional human security and development
